Despina Pavlaki studied Communication and Mass Media in Athens and Creative Documentary in Barcelona. She started out as a film critic and festival programmer, but decided to stick to documentary when she realized reality is stranger than fiction.
Valerie Kontakos was born and raised in NY, studied film at NYU and dived into documentary head-first when she met the inimitable David and Albert Maysles. A director in her own right ("Who's on First?", "Mana"), she now divides her time between Athens and New York.
Exile Films is an independent media arts company based in downtown Athens, specializing in documentary. We collaborate with filmmakers, writers, producers and broadcasters from all over the world to create films for international audiences. www.exilefilms.gr
